Parental Leave with Pay. 8.6.2.1 Unit members may take up to 12 weeks of sick leave and extended sick leave for child bonding occasioned by the birth of his or her child, or the placement of a child with the unit member in connection with an adoption or xxxxxx care as provided by the California Family Rights Act (CFRA).

To qualify for parental leave with pay, an employee must have been employed continuously for one year or more and hold a current appointment of a year's duration or longer. The paid leave must be taken within fifty-two (52) weeks of the birth of the baby or when the child first comes into the custody or care of the parent. The maximum duration of the paid leave shall be fifteen (15) weeks.   • Other Leave with Pay The Employer may grant leave with pay for purposes other than those specified in this Agreement, including military or civil defence training, and emergencies affecting the community or place of work.
