Common use of Paid Rest Periods Clause in Contracts

Paid Rest Periods. All employees shall be granted a fifteen (15) minute paid rest period during each four (4) hours of work. This rest period shall occur at the approximate midpoint of each four (4) hours of work, whenever possible, barring emergency. Employees who work beyond their regular quitting time into the next shift shall receive a fifteen (15) minute rest period if the overtime work will be two (2) hours or more. This fifteen (15) minute rest period shall be provided before the employee starts work on the next shift or, if that is not possible, at a time mutually agreeable to the employee and the supervisor. Additionally, employees who work four (4) hours or more shall receive the regular rest periods that occur during the shift.
