Paid Professional Leave Days. Each nurse shall be entitled to apply for professional development leave in a calendar year. The nurse shall provide the hospital with as much notice as is practicable to ensure that replacement staff are provided. The Nurse shall be advised, prior to taking any professional development days of any transportation, wage replacement, registration fees, subsistence and other expenses that will be paid by the Employer.

The department or division must provide employees with the most recent and available information regarding policies and funds for courses. The nurse must apply in writing in advance for authorization from their manager to attend the course and must present receipts when claiming the portion of expenses that had been approved. The manager will provide information regarding unit funded educational opportunities to nurses on the unit. The unit manager will endeavour to equitably assign educational opportunities to all nurses that have made a written expression of interest on that unit.

Paid Professional Leave Days a. A school-year allocation will be made to each school of one day for each four full-time teachers. The assignments shall be made on a rotating basis to teachers who do not have a previously allocated professional leave day (see paragraph 10-c in this section). The rotation shall be planned by the Quality Improvement Team. Selection shall be subject to mutual approval of teacher and principal. Assignments shall be made by September 15 of each year. A substitute will be provided to replace the teacher using a paid professional leave day or days.

Baycrest may at its discretion grant two (2) days of paid education leave per fiscal year to full-time nurses and one (1) day per fiscal year for regular part-time nurses who apply for such leave.   • Medical Leaves of Absence When recommended by an employee's personal physician in writing, a medical leave of absence for a three (3) month period will be granted by the Sheriff. Such leave may be extended for a like three (3) month period or shorter period, within the sole discretion of the Sheriff, up to a maximum of one (1) year. Such extension, if granted, shall be based upon the written certification by the employee's physician that the continued illness or disability precludes the employee from working and the continuation of the leave of absence is necessary. Such leave, up to a maximum of three (3) months, if granted, will be allowed and credited as continuous county service, i.e. seniority continues for the three (3) months only. The employee shall be entitled to his former position or a position for which he is able and capable of performing upon return to work. A medical leave of absence shall be without pay and other fringe benefits, except an employee may use his accumulated sick leave time and accumulated vacation time to avoid loss of wages during such leave.

  • Educational Leave of Absence Leaves of absence may be granted up to six (6) months under the above provisions only if the course would be beneficial to both the University and the employee.

  • Sabbatical Leave Committee Shall consist of the following:

  • Personnel Selection Leave With Pay Where an employee participates in a personnel selection process, including the appeal process where applicable, for a position in the Public Service or in the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, as defined in the Public Service Labour Relations Act, the employee is entitled to leave with pay for the period during which the employee's presence is required for purposes of the selection process, and for such further period as the Employer considers reasonable for the employee to travel to and from the place where his presence is so required.

  • Professional Service Consultant agrees that all services and work performed under this agreement will be accomplished in a professional manner, in accordance with the accepted standards of Contractor’s profession.
