Paid Leave (PTO Plan). Section 14.1. Paid Leave (PTO Plan). Paid leave is a period of time in which employees receive compensation but during which County assigned work and responsibility is suspended. Paid leave also provides for compensated time for employees who are absent due to personal illness, a death in the immediate family, or emergency needs due to illness of an immediate family member. Upon retirement from County employment, one hundred percent (100%) of all remaining accrued paid leave hours above 200 hours shall be reported to PERS and included as PERS subject compensation in accordance with PERS regulations. These hours shall be reported to PERS as “sick time.”

All requests for such extended leave of absence will be applied for and granted or rejected in writing. Such application will be reviewed by the principal and superintendent. If the latter approves, he/she will recommend that the leave be granted by the Board. An employee returning from an extended leave will be assigned to the same position as that which he/she held before assuming the leave, providing that position still exists.
