Paid leave entitlement. An employee other than a casual is entitled to up to 5 days carer’s leave each year to care for members of his or her immediate family or household who are sick and require care and support. This entitlement is subject to the employee being responsible for the care and support of the person concerned. In normal circumstances an employee is not entitled to take carer's leave where another person has taken leave to care for the same person. If the full period of carer’s leave is not taken in any year the whole or any untaken portion shall not be cumulative.
Paid leave entitlement. An employee is entitled to four days paid Compassionate Leave annually if a member of the employee's immediate family or household dies/ is seriously ill, or outside Australia dies. An employee is entitled to use accumulated personal leave as paid Compassionate Leave up to four days annually when a member of the employee's immediate family or household in Australia dies/is seriously ill if the employee has already used the current year's Compassionate Leave entitlement as prescribed in this paragraph. Proof of death must be provided to the satisfaction of the employer, if requested.
