Common use of Ownership of Float Clause in Contracts

Ownership of Float. Unless indicated otherwise in the Contract Documents, Contractor shall develop its schedule, pricing, and execution plan to provide a minimum of ten (10) percent total float at acceptance of the Baseline Schedule. Float time contained in the Work Progress Schedule is not for the exclusive benefit of Contractor or Owner, but belongs to the Project and may be consumed by either party. Before Contractor uses any portion of the float Contractor must submit a written request to do so to the Owner and receive Owner’s written authorization to use the float. Owner’s approval shall not be unreasonably withheld.
