Common use of Overload Pay Clause in Contracts

Overload Pay. When an employee is temporarily assigned duties of another position within the city, he or she shall be compensated at up to 10% above his or her present step. The amount of the overload pay is not to exceed that maximum step of the range of the classification for which the duties most closely align. The amount of the overload pay shall be determined based on a review of the position descriptions, the additional duties the employee will be asked to perform that are outside the scope of their current classification and the duration of the assigned duties. Employees will be provided the amount of the overload pay in advance of the assignment of the additional duties.
