Overdimensional Envelopes. The scope of the proposed Atlantic regional agreement would include movement of overdimensional indivisible vehicles or loads within the following limits for daytime travel: Front Overhang Up to 3.05 metres Rear Overhang Up to 6.1 metres Width Up to 5.49 metres Height Up to 4.88 metres Length Up to 30 metres and within the following limits for night travel: Front Overhang Up to 3.05 metres Rear Overhang Up to 6.1 metres Width Up to 3.66 metres Height Up to 4.27 metres Length Up to 30 metres For a vehicle or load in excess of the above limits, each province will apply its own special permit conditions. Height: Up to 4.88 m (16’) Length: Up to 30 m (98.4’) Up to 5.49 m (18’) Within this overall "envelope" proposed special permit conditions are presented for a series of overdimensional conditions, as depicted in the following sections. Standard Conditions and Notes: - Single Trip Permits would be valid for up to 7 days - Annual Permits would be valid for periods up to one year from date of issue - The driver of the overdimensional vehicle or load must be in possession of a valid special permit for the movement at all times - Special permits are subject to revocation at any time - The distance between overdimensional vehicles must be no less than 500 metres while operating on a highway - Drivers must prevent excessive traffic buildup behind the load by pulling over to allow safe passing - If the view to the rear is obstructed or interfered with by the trailer or the load, extended rear vision mirrors shall be attached to afford the driver a clear view to the rear of the vehicle of at least 60 metres on each side of the vehicle. - The holder of a special permit for movement of overdimensional vehicles or loads is responsible for all damages which occur during a move - Each overdimensional vehicle or load must be accompanied by its own escort vehicles (when escorts are required) - Movement of overdimensional vehicles or loads will not be permitted when visibility is less than 300 metres or when road conditions or weather conditions would make travelling hazardous to the operator or to the driving public. - An annual permit for a higher Class dimensional envelope (eg. Class 3) also provides the authority to transport under the terms and conditions of all lower Classes (eg.
