OUTDOOR PLAY. Home Child Care Providers are required to take the children outside two hours per day, weather permitting. Children must be dressed appropriately for current weather conditions. For example, in the winter all children are required to wear waterproof, warm boots, a winter coat, waterproof mittens, and a warm hat. All children must have a pair of indoor shoes. In the summer, all children must wear proper running shoes that are comfortable while on trips and excursions. All children must have sunscreen and wear a hat everyday while at theWest End Home Child Care Services. These will protect them from the hot sun. All children that attend the home childcare for six or more hours should spend at least two hours a day outdoors. If a child is not well enough to be outdoors, they should not attend, and will not be accepted. in theWest End Home Child Care Services. School-age children must be outside after school for about. 30 minutes. Children will not be going outside in the winter when the wind chill is -15C or more. In the summer, children will not be going outside when the temperature is 35C (95F) or greater and the air quality index is 5 or more. Alternative, indoor activities will be planned for these occasions and the outdoor time may be changed (early in the morning or late in the afternoon) or the time spend outdoor may be reduced. If the child is to be restricted from outdoor play the West End Home Child Care Services will ask the parent to make other day care arrangements for their child as outdoor play is an essential part of the program. The Home Child Care Provider cannot be expected to restrict the others in their home from going outside, for one child. OUTDOOR PLAY. This permission form will allow the teachers at our MAA Expanded Learning Center to take your child to the playground or park nearby. Your child will engage in supervised outdoor play at the playground at the teachers’ discretion. This also includes supervised walks and visits to the park in the neighborhood surrounding our facility. This permission form is valid from the first day your child is enrolled at MAA Expanded Learning Center until the end of the contracted services. Parents are required to provide one bottle of sunscreen per child/family. The sunscreen must be labeled with your child(xxx)’s name(s). Sunscreen is only required during the spring and summer months. Parents are required to apply sunscreen to their child BEFORE they come to the Center each morning. Our teachers will only be applying sunscreen to the children in the afternoon before they go outside. We are required to treat sunscreen as a medicine; therefore, ALL sunscreen that is brought into the Center MUST be handed to a staff member. DO NOT LEAVE SUNSCREEN IN YOUR CHILDS CUBBIE! OUTDOOR PLAY. All children will play outside for 1-2 hours daily. (weather permitting) in accordance to the rules set forth by the days nursery act. We will not go outside if the weather is -20 with the wind chill in the winter months and +30 including the humidex in the summer months. All children will participate in outdoor play time. Please dress your child appropriately. Ratios will remain in accordance to the days nursery act for outdoor play.
