Other Unpaid Leaves. It is agreed that this provision will be interpreted in a manner consistent with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Employment Standards Act.
Other Unpaid Leaves. 1. The Board will grant an unpaid leave for a period of up to one (1) year to a teacher for illness or disability, eldercare, extended or family illness. The teacher may request that his/her teaching position be reduced to a part-time position with the School Corporation during this leave. Upon the teacher’s return from said leave, the School Corporation will follow the guidelines set forth under A.5. above.
Other Unpaid Leaves. Any other request for unpaid leave of absence not covered in this section shall be subject to the approval of the Superintendent and the Board of Education.
Other Unpaid Leaves. 1. Upon written request of an employee, the Board may grant an unpaid leave of absence for a period of no more than two (2) school years for educational, professional, or other purposes and shall grant such leave where illness or other disability is the reason for the request. Without request, the Board may grant up to two (2) years unpaid leave of absence for physical or mental disability; however, the employee may request a hearing before the Board on any unrequested leave of absence.
Other Unpaid Leaves. Upon written application by an employee (30 days’ advance notice when practicable), a leave of absence without pay or fringe benefits which is not covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act under Section E.1. above will be granted for the following reasons:

Administrators may make recommendations to the President with respect to unpaid leaves of absence for reasons of health, public service, enhancement of professional qualifications through work experience, teaching or service at another institution. Such leaves may be granted for periods up to one (1) year and may be renewable for a second year.
Other Unpaid Leaves. The District may allow bargaining unit members to attend job related seminars, conferences, and classes if said bargaining unit members reimburse the District for the cost of employing a substitute needed to replace them. This leave is completely at the discretion of the District and is not subject to grievance. This leave will not be granted for vacation or where other leaves apply.
