Other Economic Opportunities. If a contractor has demonstrated that it has no need or plans to subcontract or hire, or that can demonstrate that it has attempted, to the greatest extent feasible, to meet Section 3 hiring and contracting goals but cannot, may provide other economic opportunities to Section 3 residents and business concerns as described in the MHA Section 3 Policy. These opportunities must be described in a written plan on how the contractor will offer other economic opportunities. A contractor that has a need to hire or sub-contract may not use other economic opportunities as a substitute to attempt to meet hiring or contracting goals; the contractor must still demonstrate how it attempted to the greatest extent feasible, to meet the goals.

Other Economic Opportunities. In the event the AWARD RECIPIENT is unable to meet the hiring and/or subcontracting requirements, or can demonstrate that it has attempted, to the greatest extent feasible, to comply with the Section 3 requirements, the AWARD RECIPIENT may propose “Other Economic Opportunities”. These opportunities may be exercised only with prior Xxxxxx County approval and satisfactory documentation explaining why hiring or subcontracting requirements could not be fulfilled. AWARD RECIPIENTS proposing Other Economic Opportunities must submit a detailed written narrative to Xxxxxx County for review and approval. Examples of Other Economic Opportunities may include: • Scholarships for Section 3 Residents • Sponsoring the enrollment of Section 3 Residents into training or apprenticeship programs • Providing training programs for Section 3 Residents • Providing mentorship programs for Section 3 Residents • Providing paid internships for Section 3 Residents • Providing Section 3 Business Concerns with tools to enable them to successfully compete for contract opportunities, such as bonding and insurance assistance • A combination of Other Economic Opportunities as approved by Xxxxxx County. Other Economic Opportunities are subject to verification and approval by Xxxxxx County. AWARD RECIPIENTS interested in providing Other Economic Opportunities as a means to comply with Section 3 requirements are encouraged to review 24 CFR 135.40 for more detail.
Other Economic Opportunities. When the contractor is unable to provide hiring and/or contracting opportunities to Section 3 residents and/or businesses, it is DCHA policy that the contractor offers another economic opportunity for career advancement. This option is only available after a contractor demonstrates in writing why it is not feasible to hire and/or subcontract to Section 3 residents and/or businesses as described above. Other economic opportunities could include: Using previous Section 3 hires’ labor on a project. Providing training opportunities including internships or certified apprenticeships for Section 3 residents or directly providing or sponsoring training opportunities through DCHA’s Southwest Family Enhancement and Career Center. Evaluation Criteria. Contractors may earn up to 20 evaluation points for Section 3. Section 3 action plans will be evaluated on the following criteria.   • Job Opportunities Section 1: Temporary Assignments Unforeseen circumstances may arise on a shift, which would require an Employee to be temporarily assigned to work other than that he would normally perform. Should such circumstances arise, the Company shall first canvass for volunteers from those employees who are able to perform the work. Should there be more volunteers than are needed, the Company shall assign the work to the volunteer with the highest seniority. Should there be no volunteers; the Company shall assign the work to the lowest seniority employee able to perform the work. Temporary Assignments may be filled according to the process set out in this Article for a period of up to forty-five (45) days. Thereafter, the Temporary Assignment will be posted on a plant wide basis and made available to the most senior employee able to perform the work. In the event that the Temporary Assignment is going to exceed forty-five (45) days, and this fact is known at the time the vacancy first becomes available, the Company will post the Temporary Assignment in accordance with Section 2 at the time the Temporary Assignment first becomes available. If an Employee is temporarily required to fill a higher paid job, the Employee will receive the higher rate of pay for all hours spent performing the job, if he or she performs the job in excess of two (2) hours per shift. If an Employee is temporarily required to fill a lower paid job, his or her rate of pay shall not be reduced. In the event additional temporary assignments are required, the job will be filled in accordance with the process provided above. Subsequent to the completion of a Temporary Assignment, an Employee will be returned to his or her previous position, subject to seniority considerations.

  • Training Opportunities The requirements of Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, as amended, 12 U.S.C. 1701u ("Section 3"), requiring that to the greatest extent feasible opportunities for training and employment be given to lower income residents of the project area and agreements for work in connection with the project be awarded to business concerns which are located in, or owned in substantial part by persons residing in, the areas of the project. Borrower agrees to include the following language in all subcontracts executed under this Agreement:
