ORIGINAL APPOINTMENT COMPENSATION RATE. ‌ The rate of compensation upon original appointment shall normally be Step 1, as applicable. However, if the City Manager or designee finds that the appointee has extraordinary qualifications, or that a higher step is necessary in order to recruit, appointment at any step in the range may be made. This provision shall apply to original appointments to career positions and appointments to non-career positions.

  • Rate of Pay on Appointment from Layoff List When an individual is appointed from a layoff list to a position in the same class in which the person was previously employed, the person shall be paid at the same salary step at which such employee was being paid at the time of layoff.

  • Limited Term Appointments (A) A limited term appointment is for a stated period of time, and carries no implication of renewal or continuation beyond the stated term of the limited term appointment. Notwithstanding, a member hired pursuant to [(B) (e)] below shall be given a probationary appointment, provided the member completes the required qualifications for the position, as set out in the letter of appointment, within the time period specified in his/her letter of appointment.
