Orientation of Newly Hired Nurses. The Employer shall notify the chairperson 13 of the Association bargaining unit, or the chairperson’s designee, of all nurses newly hired 14 into bargaining unit positions. The representative shall be provided access to these nurses 15 for up to thirty (30) minutes at a mutually agreeable time for the chairperson and the new 16 nurse to discuss Association membership.
Orientation of Newly Hired Nurses. During the orientation of newly hired nurses, the Medical Center shall provide an Association representative with a 30-minute period to discuss the Association. This period will be paid time for the newly hired nurses and the Association representative. The Association representative, if a bargaining unit nurse, will be paid at the regular rate of pay for the assigned 30-minute period. The paid time will not count toward premium or overtime pay. The Medical Center will cooperate in releasing an Association representative, if a bargaining unit nurse, from duty to attend such meeting, and the Association will cooperate to provide an alternate representative where such release would cause staffing problems for the Medical Center.

This period will be paid time for the 1 newly hired nurses, but will be on the Association representative’s own time. The 2 Employer will cooperate in releasing an Association representative, if a nurse, 3 from duty to attend such meeting, and the Association will cooperate to provide 4 an alternate representative where such release would cause staffing problems 5 for the Employer. The Employer may choose to have an Employer representative 6 attend such meeting as long as this does not cause undue delay in conducting 7 the orientation.

During the orientation of newly hired 20 nurses, the Medical Center shall provide an Association representative with a 21 30-minute period scheduled approximately midway through the orientation 22 day, not adjacent to the lunch period, to discuss the Association. The 24 Medical Center will provide a schedule of orientation, including the names 25 and contact information of the newly hired nurses, to the Association for the 26 purposes of scheduling an Association representative.
