On Call/Call Back. A. Some University departments maintain formal on-call systems in order to cover off- hour shifts or to assure appropriate response to incidents and emergencies which occur at night or on weekends. Professional staff are assigned specific periods of duty, must be available during assigned duty, and must respond when called. For these situations, on-call and call-back shall be considered a single entity. A salary adjustment shall be made to acknowledge the additional expectation of serving regularly as part of a formal on-call/call-back system. Compensatory time for call-back shall be approved by the supervisor only in those instances when the employee must respond to a situation that requires work for a prolonged period of time (i.e., several hours during a night). The supervisor's discretion prevails in these cases.
On Call/Call Back. Section 1. Employees shall be paid one (1) hour of pay at the regular straight time rate for each six (6) hours of assigned on-call duty. Employees who are assigned on-call duty for less than six (6) hours shall be paid on a prorated basis.

On Call/Call Back. 15.1 “On call” assignment shall be defined as any time when management has instructed an employee, in writing, to remain available to work during an off-duty period. An employee who is so instructed shall be required to leave word where they may be reached by telephone or by other electronic signal device in order to be able to return to work on short notice.

On-Call Compensation Either one (1) hour compensatory time off or one (1) hour pay at the straight-time rate, at the option of the employee, shall be granted to employees required to be in an “on-call” status during the period that begins with the end of one workday and the beginning of the next work day. Either three (3) hours’ compensatory time off or three (3) hours’ pay at the straight- time rate, at the option of the employee, shall be granted to employees required to be in an “on-call” status during the period that begins with the start of the workday Saturday and the beginning of the workday Monday. Either four (4) hours’ compensatory time off or four (4) hours’ pay at the straight- time rate, at the option of the employee, shall be granted to employees required to be in an “on-call” status on the fixed holidays recognized in Section 5, Holidays, of this Memorandum of Understanding. On Call/Call Back. The Senior Inspector will be on-call for one (1) week intervals beginning at 0800 hours on a Wednesday and continuing until 0800 hours the following Wednesday. During the on-call interval, the employee must be ready to immediately report for duty and must arrange so that a supervisor can reach the employee within ten (10) minutes or less. A County vehicle may be used and driven home during the on-call interval, and must be used in compliance with the County Vehicle Use Policy. Inspectors of all classes, whether or not on-call, may be called out to an incident after normal working hours, and may be required to respond in their personal vehicle. If an employee uses their personal vehicle they shall be reimbursed per Section 25 – Mileage, of this MOU. Any employee called out to an incident after normal work hours shall receive overtime or compensatory time at the appropriate rate for actual hours worked plus one (1) hour. An employee who is called back after normal working hours shall be paid a minimum of two (2) hours at the appropriate rate for each call back. Employees who are assigned in writing to on-call status will be compensated at the rate of two hundred seventy-two dollars and fifty cents ($272.50) per week.
On Call/Call Back. 17.01 On-call duty shall mean any period during which a Regular Employee is not working but during which the Employee is required by the Employer to be readily available to respond without undue delay to any request to report for work.

Effective October 1, 2003, an Employee will be paid $2.75 per hour for the time required to be on-call. Employees may switch with each other with the prior approval of management. Such approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. All on-call shall be voluntary. However, in the event there are not at least two volunteers available at any time when on-call is required, it is understood and acknowledged that the Employer shall have the right to assign Employees to be available for and perform on-call duties as required. It is understood that where an Employee has been placed on a modified work assignment or work restriction due to injury or disability she shall not be eligible for on-call assignments. On Call/Call Back. (a) Where an employee is instructed to be on call during normal off duty hours, an on call allowance of $4.04 per hour for weekdays and weekends, and $6.06 per hour on public holidays effective from 4 March 2019 shall be paid for each hour the employee is on call.
