Obligatory Leave. Employees, regardless of job classification or location of work, will be offered the opportunity to attend timely training and re-certification courses in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or Safe Management (the choice being at the Employer’s discretion). Their attendance will be deemed to be time worked and there will be no cost for said training. Employees will be provided with at least two (2) timely training opportunities prior to the expiry date of their certification. Employees who fail to attend either session will be placed on layoff (unpaid leave) until such time as they are re-certified, and ongoing failure to accept this training will result in disciplinary action. The above will not apply to employees who are on extended sick leave during the months preceding the expiry of their certification. However, when they are ready to return to work they must attend the first training opportunity that is offered, and they may be subject to temporary reassignment pending their re-certification.

Obligatory Leave. 1. The teacher shall be granted time necessary for appearances in legal proceedings connected with the teacher's employment or with the school system or in other legal proceedings if the teacher is required by law to attend.

Obligatory Leave. An employee who has completed his/her probationary period and who is called for jury duty or is subpoenaed as a witness will be entitled to jury or witness pay. Such payment will be equivalent to the difference between the amount the employee receives for jury or witness duty and the normal wages s/he would have received had s/he not been required to perform jury duty or appear as a witness.

  • Medical Leaves of Absence When recommended by an employee's personal physician in writing, a medical leave of absence for a three (3) month period will be granted by the Sheriff. Such extension, if granted, shall be based upon the written certification by the employee's physician that the continued illness or disability precludes the employee from working and the continuation of the leave of absence is necessary. Such leave, up to a maximum of three (3) months, if granted, will be allowed and credited as continuous county service, i.e. seniority continues for the three (3) months only. The employee shall be entitled to his former position or a position for which he is able and capable of performing upon return to work. A medical leave of absence shall be without pay and other fringe benefits, except an employee may use his accumulated sick leave time and accumulated vacation time to avoid loss of wages during such leave.

  • TEMPORARY LEAVE OF ABSENCE A. Members shall be entitled to the following temporary leaves of absence with full pay each school year. Such days of temporary leave must be taken as either one-half (1/2) or one (1) full working day. No personal leaves of absence shall be taken immediately prior to or immediately after holidays or vacations. Any exceptions must be requested in writing to the Superintendent or his designee and must have written approval.

  • Bereavement Leave of Absence An employee who has a bereavement in their immediate family will be granted up to and including five (5) days absence with pay. Immediate family means spouse, (as defined in Section 2(b) of Appendix 2), parents, and child. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as immediate family. An employee who has a bereavement in their family will be granted up to and including three (3) days absence with pay. Family means brother, sister, parents-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, son-in-law and daughter-in-law. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as family. In the event of the death of an employee's brother-in-law, sister-in-law or grand parents- in-law the employee will be given one (1) days' leave with pay to attend the funeral. An additional day's traveling time, in each direction, will be granted in order for the employee to attend the funeral if such is to be held in excess of 600 kilometers from the employees’ home.

  • TEMPORARY LEAVES OF ABSENCE A. Teachers will be entitled to the following temporary leaves of absence with full pay each school year:

  • Union Leave of Absence An employee on an unpaid Union leave of absence shall have her wages, benefits and seniority continued by the Employer, and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer for the costs of such wages and benefits. Employees requesting leave under this article will provide the Employer with as much advance notice as possible of the dates of the leave. Where there are less than fifteen (15) regular employees at a workstation at the time the leave request is submitted, and subject to operational requirements, unpaid Union leave of absence will be granted to one employee for the purpose of conducting Union business. This would be an additional person on Union leave at worksites where the position of the Union President or Council member has been backfilled for the duration of their term of office.
