In the event of a death of an employee's brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, such employee will be paid for straight time lost from scheduled work not to exceed one (1) scheduled workday falling between the date of death and the date of the funeral, both inclusive, except in special circumstances.

  • Immediate Family Defined For the purpose of this Section, "Immediate Family" is defined as the employee's spouse, domestic partner, child, stepchild, grandchild, parent/step-parent, brother, sister, grandparent or spouse's, child, stepchild, grandchild, parent/step-parent, brother, sister or grandparent.

  • Sick Leave Definition Sick leave shall be defined as time off the job because of: illness; bodily injury; exposure to a contagious disease; attendance upon members of the immediate family; death in the immediate family; and diagnostic treatment, dental procedures and optician services when such services are performed by duly licensed practitioners.

  • Illness in the Immediate Family ‌ An employee may use up to one-half of his or her annual sick leave allocation in any calendar year in the event of illness or a spouse, child, parent, or domestic partner. At the City's request the employee will provide satisfactory evidence of the facts justifying such absence.
