NON-INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY Clause Examples
The NON-INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY clause defines the roles and responsibilities of faculty members who are not primarily engaged in teaching activities. It typically outlines the types of duties these faculty may perform, such as research, administrative tasks, or student advising, and may specify how their workload and evaluation differ from instructional faculty. This clause ensures clarity in job expectations and helps distinguish between teaching and non-teaching faculty roles, thereby preventing misunderstandings regarding duties and performance assessments.
NON-INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY. The following types of non-instructional assignments are agreed to constitute a full load when conducted for the amounts specified:
NON-INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY. Non-Instructional faculty shall have a scheduled workweek not exceeding thirty-five (35) hours per week averaged over any two- (2) week period.
NON-INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY. 10.8.1 Employees whose primary responsibility is not direct teaching shall have assigned work hours of thirty-five (35) per week.
10.8.2 Any employee required to work beyond the thirty-five (35) hour week shall be compensated at the overtime rate of: or upon mutual agreement, compensatory time off equivalent to the number of excess hours.
10.8.3 As of the date of the agreement, positions covered by Article 10.8.1 and
NON-INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY. Normal workload for non-instructional faculty shall be based on 40 hours per week of scheduled time.
NON-INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY. The work year for all full-time non-instructional faculty shall be 200 or 221 days depending on assignment which shall include 3 (three) service days and 4 (four) flex activity days in each academic year. The established work year schedule of any full time non-instructional faculty member may not be changed except in cases of mutual consent, documented college need, or emergency.
a. The base year of 200 days shall apply to unit members in the positions listed in Appendix G.
b. The base year of 221 days shall apply to unit members in the positions listed in Appendix H. The scheduling of the 200 and 221 workdays shall be established by mutual consent between the faculty members and the supervisors by May 1 for the following year. If mutual consent cannot be reached, a mediation team composed of the supervisor, the faculty member, a CTA representative and the supervisor’s supervisor. The CTA President within 10 (ten) days after receiving the notice of disagreement, shall arrange a meeting date and time agreeable to all four parties. Barring an emergency, if either of the parties in the disagreement fails to attend the mediation meeting, the issue is resolved in favor of the party in attendance.
NON-INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY. Non-instructional faculty are expected to work 35 hours a week while on contract (see Appendix G). Therefore, the percent of reassigned/release time translates into the corresponding hours per week as indicated in the following chart. NON-INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY a. Full-time Non-instructional faculty will be supplied with the safety measures outlined in the District’s Reintegration Plan and in section 1 of this MOU upon returning to on-campus work. In addition, the District agrees that:
i. Students will continue to be provided the option of scheduling virtual appointments with Non-Instructional faculty for the duration of the MOU.
ii. The District will evaluate, create and implement solutions and/or technology to limit, count, schedule, and serve the number of people inside library, One-Stop Center, and other workplace areas assigned to Non- Instructional faculty to ensure full-time faculty safety in accordance with applicable state and local health and safety guidelines.
iii. Webcams and microphones for each full-time Non-Instructional faculty’s computer for effective assistance in helping students both remotely and on campus.
v. No full-time Non-instructional faculty will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing public common spaces, including, but not limited to, common computers and waiting areas. Unit members are responsible for maintaining their working own areas, including common faculty areas and equipment, in a sanitary manner.
b. In addition to the above, full-time Counselors and Librarians shall have access to dual monitors for their workspace that extend to the social distancing guidelines of six feet so students can participate without compromising Counselor safety. All full-time faculty will conduct office hours per existing language in the full-time faculty contract.
NON-INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY appropriate written materials developed by the counselor, librarian, or director including handbooks, policies, and related documents; and
NON-INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY i. Communicate the purpose, mission and scope of the program area.
ii. Explain the department or program procedures to be followed.
iii. Demonstrate clear and respectful communication when engaged in dialogue with their students, colleagues, and others that they interact with on campus or in the community on behalf of the campus.
NON-INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY. The following applies to all non-instructional faculty.
A. Overtime shall not be mandatory.
B. Approved professional development may be completed during their regularly scheduled workweek.
C. Advisors will be paid according to ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇-▇, ▇-▇, and A-6.
D. If a faculty member lives in a municipality that charges city income tax, the college shall withhold city tax from the faculty member’s pay, and transfer said tax to the municipality in a timely fashion, as required by the municipality.
