Common use of New Year’s Day Clause in Contracts

New Year’s Day. Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day or days locally observed as such by the State, and Saturday and Sunday shall be recognized as holidays. All work performed on holidays shall be paid as follows: holidays and Sundays shall be paid at two (2) times the regular rate of pay; Saturday work shall be paid at one and one-half (1 1/2) times the regular rate of pay.

If a holiday falls on a Saturday, the Friday before shall be the observed holiday. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be the observed holiday. All work performed on holidays shall be paid as follows: holidays and Sundays shall be paid at two (2) times the regular rate of pay; Saturday work shall be paid at one and one-half (1 1/2) times pay received by the regular rate of payemployee, as covered in Addendum 1.
