Network Interface Device. 5.1. Apart from its obligation to provide the network interface device functionality as part of an unbundled loop or subloop, an incumbent LEC also shall provide nondiscriminatory access to the network interface device on as a standalone element on an unbundled basis, in accordance with section 251(c)(3) of the Act and this part. Sprint will offer unbundled access to the network interface devise element (NID). The NID is defined as any means of interconnection of end-user customer premises wiring to an incumbent LECs distribution plant, such as a cross connect device used for that purpose. This includes all features, functions, and capabilities of the facilities used to connect the loop to end-user customer premises wiring, regardless of the specific mechanical design.
