Common use of Network Interface Device (NID) Clause in Contracts

Network Interface Device (NID). 5.1 The NID is a cross-connect used to connect loop facilities to inside wiring. The fundamental function of the NID is to establish the official network demarcation point between a carrier and its end-user customer. The NID shall be capable of transferring electrical analog or digital signals between the subscribers’ inside wiring and cross connect to AT&T’s NID, consistent with the NIDs function at the Effective Date of this Agreement. The NID features two independent xxxxxxxx or divisions, which separate the service provider’s network from the customer’s inside wiring. Each chamber or division contains the appropriate connection points or posts to which the service provider and the end-user customer each make their connections.
