Nonprofit Food Service: all food service operations conducted by the school food authority principally for the benefit of school children, all of the revenue from which is used solely for the operation or improvement of such food service. When applied to schools or institutions eligible for the school nutrition program nonprofit means exempt from income tax under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. Non-program Food: food or beverages sold in a participating school other than a reimbursable meal that is purchased using funds from the nonprofit school food service account of the SFA. This also includes food that is sold in competition with a program established under the NSLA (as amended) or the Child Nutrition Act of 1966.
