National Provider Identifier. The HIPAA Standard Unique Health Identifier regulations (45 CFR §162 Subparts A & D) require that all covered entities (health plans, health care clearinghouses, and those health care providers who transmit any health information in electronic form in connection with a standard transaction) must use the identifier obtained from the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES). Pursuant to the HIPAA Standard Unique Health Identifier regulations (45 CFR §162 Subparts A & D), and if the provider is a covered health care provider as defined in 45 CFR §162.402, the provider agrees to disclose its National Provider Identifier (NPI) to SCDHHS once obtained from the NPPES. Provider also agrees to use the NPI it obtained from the NPPES to identify itself on all standard transactions that it conducts with SCDHHS.
National Provider Identifier. If Trading Partner is a health care provider as defined in 45 C.F.R. § 160.103, Trading Partner shall, if eligible, obtain one or more National Provider Identifiers (NPIs) and use the identifiers to identify itself in all Standard Transactions with HMSA in accordance with 45 C.F.R. Part 162, Subpart D. If Trading Partner is not eligible for an NPI under 45 C.F.R. Part 162, Subpart D, Trading Partner and HMSA will agree on an appropriate identifier, which Trading Partner shall use to identify itself in all Standard Transactions with HMSA.
National Provider Identifier. Contractors are required to obtain a Type 2 Organizational National Provider Identifier (NPI) number and taxonomy code from the National Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) at xxxxx://xxxxx.xxx.xxx.xxx for each provider number assigned by the California Department of Health Care Services, notwithstanding if the program is Drug Medi-Cal certified or not. In addition, individuals within the organization who are providing treatment services which are submitting claims to Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services must also obtain a Type 1 Individual NPI number. The Type 1 NPI may be obtained from the same web site. NPI numbers are a mandatory requirement for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) National Provider Identifier rule (45 CFR Part 162, Subpart D) and must be reported to the Department prior to service delivery.
National Provider Identifier. Providers who are physicians shall have a national provider identifier (NPI). Providers shall supply Health Plan with their NPI number in order for it to be included on the provider file submitted to the State.
National Provider Identifier. In accordance with 45 CFR § 162.410, each applicable Provider shall have a national provider identifier (NPI).
National Provider Identifier a. All health care providers are eligible to be assigned a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act National Provider Identifiers (NPIs); however, health care providers who are covered entities (which include all State-Contracted Community SAMH providers and State Treatment Facilities) must obtain and use NPIs.
