NEW 17-3 Principals shall provide convert two principal-di- rected preparation periods to teacher-directed preparation periods or provide any other release time as determined by the principal for a minimum of two hours to kindergarten teachers during the first quarter, or in any quarter that the KIDS assessment is administered in order to complete kin- dergarten report cards. NEW 17-4. Pre-K Teacher Assistants. In accordance with the Chicago Public Schools preschool handbook Preschool Teaching Assistants will be assisting Pre-K classroom teach- ers 100% of their day and will not be used to substitute, to cover lunchroom duty or recess duty unless accompanying their assigned students, to perform office duties or perform other capacities in the building except for temporary emer- gency supervisory duty where the welfare of students is in- volved (emergency duties do not include regular lunch duty and recess assignments). Said temporary emergency su- pervisory duty shall not exceed sixty minutes. All preschool classrooms shall maintain a 10:1 child to teacher ratio at all times, including during nap or rest time, meals, specials, etc. TA’s shall have their contractual breaks covered by school staff to maintain the 10:1 ratio. NEW 17-5. Hygienic Equipment and Facilities. Preschool classrooms with SECAs shall have access to adequate bathroom facilities including safe and sanitary diapering fa- cilities for children who are unable to use the toilet consis- tently. These facilities shall be easily accessible to students and school staff. The school shall provide all necessary sup- plies for containment of soiled clothing in safe and sanitary fashion. Disposable safety gloves shall be provided in all early childhood classrooms in case of toileting accidents. Adequate staff shall be provided to assist students in case of toileting accidents and no student shall be punished or excluded from instruction due to toileting accident.
Nap Time. There is a required rest period during the day for all children. Each child is assigned his/her own cot or mat to sleep on and is welcome to bring a favorite blanket. Some children will sleep and others will be allowed to rest or enjoy a quiet activity.
Nap Time. If your child is participating in our extended care program (preschool or kindergarten), he or she will be resting/napping during early afternoon. The expectation is that the child lies quietly on his/her mat during the napping hours. We do not have an alternative. You may bring a blanket, pillow (small or travel size), soft sleeping friend, etc. for your child to nap with. We request that you look at the size of the container that will hold your child’s nap accessories before you buy something for him or her to bring. Please do not bring a nap accessory that is bigger than the tub which has been assigned to your child. We also request that you take home the blanket and/or pillow weekly to biweekly to be washed and brought on the following Monday. NUTRITION All students in all classes will eat lunch at school each day. Please place your child’s lunch inside the refrigerator in your child’s classroom. We have microwaves available for warming up left-overs. Please send items that need to be warmed-up prepared and microwave ready. Most microwave dinners take 3-5 minutes to warm up and cool down, so we ask that you not send them. Please send only items that can be heated in less than one minute. Send items in your child’s lunch that he or she will eat, and please label the bag/lunch box/etc. that you bring your child’s lunch in every day. We strongly encourage healthy lunch choices for the children. Please limit sweets and desserts, if at all possible, so that your child may obtain his/her optimum learning potential. We do not allow the children to drink sodas/pop brought to school. All children are given a snack during the morning. The extended care children are given another snack in the afternoon. The cost for snack is included in your tuition. You may check the school menu at any time to see what your child is having for snack for the week.

For children who are non-nappers, a variety of quiet activities are offered. Daily Outdoor Play Your child should have comfortable, washable, and weather appropriate clothing and footwear at all times. We go outside year-round. Please check wit your child’s teacher for ay additional clothing your child may need. Please make sure your child always has two sets of extra clothing in his cubby in case of emergency. Children are expected to go outside according to Keystone STARS PA Position Statement when: • The forecast temperature/wind chill are above 25°, • The forecast temperature/heat index is less than 90°, • There is no precipitation failing, and • There is no current air quality alert. Breakfast Breakfast may be brought from home until 8:00 AM. Children arriving after 8:00 AM should be fed at home. Infants are fed on an as-needed basis or according to the schedule you provide. Snacks Play & Learn participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), a program that assists in providing healthy, balanced snacks in accordance with nutritional requirements under the Department of Education. Families are required to complete a CACFP Enrollment form and encouraged to complete an Income Eligibility Form for each infant/child. Infants up to 12 months of age will need an Income Enrollment Form. Infants are provided with formula, and developmentally appropriate foods when they are ready to accept them. Toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergartners will be provided with a nutritious mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack. The monthly snack calendar is posted in your child’s classroom. A new Child and Adult Care Food Program Enrollment Form as well as the Income Eligibility Form is encouraged to be completed annually in October for each child enrolled in the program. In accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or fund by USDA. Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g. Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language, etc.) should contact the Agency (State or local) where they applied for benefits....

  • Crib Time 17.6.1 An employee working overtime shall be allowed a crib time of 20 minutes without deduction of pay after each four hours of overtime worked provided the employee continues working after such crib time.

  • Comp Time In lieu of payment for overtime hours worked, the employee may request to take compensatory time off. Approval shall be at the discretion of the Department Head.
