Common use of Municipal Pension Plan Clause in Contracts

Municipal Pension Plan. Regular employees shall be covered by the provisions of the Municipal Pension Plan. All regular employees shall be entitled to join the Pension Plan after three (3) months of employment and shall continue in the Plan as a condition of employment. Reference Article 56 (Portability). Notwithstanding the foregoing, new regular part-time employees who are hired may, at the time of hiring, decline being covered by the Municipal Pension Plan for the period of their regular part-time employment. Employees shall be eligible for enrollment in the Municipal Pension Plan in accordance with the provisions of the Plan and the Municipal Pension Plan Rules. As at the date of ratification of this collective agreement the Municipal Pension Plan Rules provided the following: A temporary employee who has been employed in a continuous full-time capacity with the Employer for a period of twelve (12) months, shall be enrolled in the Plan as a condition of employment. Casual employees who have completed two (2) years of continuous employment with earnings from the Employer of not less than thirty-five (35) percent of the year’s maximum pensionable earnings in each of two (2) consecutive calendar years shall be enrolled in the Plan as a condition of employment, unless the employee gives the Employer a written waiver not more than ninety (90) days after the date the Plan begins to apply to the employee.
