Common use of Midwifery Services Clause in Contracts

Midwifery Services. SSA Section 1905 (a)(17), Education Law Section 6951(i). Midwifery services include the management of normal pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care as well as primary preventive reproductive health care to essentially healthy women as specified in a written practice agreement and shall include newborn evaluation, resuscitation and referral for infants. The care may be provided on an inpatient or outpatient basis including in a birthing center or in the Enrollee's home as appropriate. The midwife must be licensed by the NYS Education Department.
