Method of Making Appointment. In making staff changes, transfers or promotions (other than promotions to positions outside the bargaining unit), appointment shall be made to the applicant with the greatest seniority who has the qualifications to perform the job.
Method of Making Appointment. Provided there are qualified applicants, the City will fill the position within the four (4) weeks provided. The Corporation recognizes the principle of promotion within the service of the employer. The appointment will be made on the basis of the applicant with the most seniority who has the required qualifications. The Union shall be notified, in writing, of the successful applicant along with the names of the other applicants for the position posted.

If there is no other applicant with seniority, the Employer shall post the position.

Subject to satisfactory completion of the three (3) month probationary period for newly hired employees, the successful applicant shall be placed on probation for a period of thirty (30) day probationary period may be extended for a further 30 days by mutual agreement. In the event the successful applicant proves unsatisfactory in the position during the aforementioned trial period, he shall be returned to his former position without loss of seniority or previous salary, and any other employee promoted, or transferred because of the rearrangement of positions shall also be returned to his former position without loss of seniority and previous salary.

The employees shall retain the right of appeal under the grievance procedure contained in this Agreement.

  • Acting Appointments If an Employer appoints a Teacher to act in a promotion position for ten or more consecutive school days, the Employer must pay the Teacher the rate prescribed for that position.

  • Visiting Appointments A "visiting" appointment is one made to a person having appropriate professional qualifications but not expected to be available for more than a limited period, or to a person in a position which the University does not expect to be available for more than a limited period. A visiting appointment may be offered in single or multi-year appointments not to exceed a total of four (4) consecutive years.
