Mentoring Program. It is recognized that the induction of new teachers through a formalized mentoring program will help to promote excellence in teaching and improve student achievement. The focus of this program will be to build a supportive environment for new teachers within the context of school improvement. Instructional Assistants applying to serve as a mentor shall satisfy the following criteria: (a) A minimum of three years of successful experience within the school, (b) positive recommendation from the building principal, or his or her designee, and (c) full participation in a one day mentor training program. 2.
