Member safety. 6.01.1 In order to provide for member safety, the district on the first day of each school year shall present a written copy of the District policy for student discipline, including the rights of suspended students. A copy of the member’s right to suspend under the Education Code, Section 48900, shall also be distributed to the members. Any revision of the above information necessitated by a change in law shall be communicated to the members upon adoption by the District. Teachers may suspend students in accordance with the Education Code.

Member safety. The District is committed to maximizing Member safety and believes safety is every Member's responsibility.
Member safety. The District and Association agree that it is in the best interest of all parties to provide safe and secure campuses for students, staff and community. The District and Association are jointly committed to maintaining a safe, harassment-free work place for students and staff. The District and Association encourage positive communication and discourage actions that impede a positive educational environment. All employees shall reasonably be alert to unsafe practices, equipment and conditions.
Member safety. Host Site is required to take reasonable steps to ensure member safety during service. Host Site is expected to conduct appropriate background and reference checks on the site supervisor(s) and other staff working with the AmeriCorps member(s) and beneficiaries of [AmeriCorps Program] activities, in accordance with the National Service Criminal History Check requirements and Host Site’s own organizational policies. Site supervisor(s) should be trained in member safety, including the use and availability of CPR, first aid kits and portable defibrillators (if available) and the location of storm shelters. Members should also be provided with this information during their onsite orientation. Host Site should also have a plan for site and personal health-related safety concerns. Host Site should also consider safety precautions for service activities and projects, as needed that may include things such as time of day, lighting and location, seasonal weather issues, road conditions, and appropriate safety protocols for service activities (including attendance of trained personnel).

Members shall report, to their principal and immediate supervisor as soon as possible, cases of assault (verbal threats, menace) and assault or battery suffered by them in connection with their employment. All incidents shall be reported to the appropriate law enforcement agency by the teacher and/or administrator.
Member safety. In the event any bargaining unit member suffers an injury due to attack, assault, overt physical act of violence, or inappropriate physical contact by a student(s) of the District, the member shall file an incident/accident report. Members may request a meeting with their administrator or designee to review the situation by selecting “yes” in the “request a meeting with your administrator or designee” section of the incident/accident report. Filing an incident/accident report with this designation shall trigger a meeting between the member, a Union representative, and building principal or designee. Members shall not be required to work with that student(s) until such time that the meeting has been held to review the situation and determine next steps.   • Occupational Health & Safety Committee (a) The Employer and the Union agree that they mutually desire to maintain standards of health and safety in the Home, in order to prevent accidents, injury and illness.

  • JOB SAFETY 13.1 It shall be the policy of the Employer that the safety of employees, the protection of work areas, the adequate training in necessary safety practices, and the prevention of accidents are a continuing and integral part of its everyday responsibilities.

  • Local Safety Committee There shall be established in each department and/or principal place of employment (for example: institutions, hospitals, colleges, transportation department areas, Department of Natural Resources regions, etc.) a joint Safety Committee composed of Appointing Authority representatives selected by the Appointing Authority and employee representatives selected by the Union, one from each bargaining unit represented by the Union but at a minimum, a total of two (2) representatives. If more than one (1) exclusive representative exists in the department or principal place of employment, the Union will attempt to work out an arrangement with the other exclusive bargaining representative(s) to insure their input to the Committee. The chair of the Committee shall be appointed by the Appointing Authority. The Appointing Authority may consider having co-chairs, one management and one labor. The Safety Committee shall meet at least quarterly or as may be legally required and meetings shall be scheduled by the Safety Officer. Additional meetings may be called by the Safety Officer or by the Local Union or Appointing Authority as the need may arise. All Safety Committee meetings shall be held during normal day shift working hours on the Appointing Authority's premises and without loss of pay. The function of the Safety Committee will be to review reports of property damage and personal injury accidents and alleged hazardous working conditions, to provide support for a strong safety program, to review building security issues, and to review and recommend safety policies to the Appointing Authority. Normally, the Committee shall acknowledge in writing receipt of reports of alleged hazardous working conditions within thirty (30) calendar days of their submission. A copy of the Committee's recommendations, if any, to the Appointing Authority regarding the disposition of such reports shall also be provided to the individual who filed the report with the Committee. In addition, the Safety Committee will provide the filing party with a copy of the Appointing Authority's response and/or proposed actions, if any. At the request of the Local Union or Safety Committee, hazard assessments will be made available for review. Each Local Safety Committee in a facility with a laundry and/or a kitchen shall perform a routine heat survey to check temperature, humidity, and exhaust and fan systems in the laundries and kitchens. The Employer agrees to coordinate technical assistance to the Local Safety Committee upon request.

  • Health & Safety (a) The Employer and the Union agree that they mutually desire to maintain standards of safety and health in the Home, in order to prevent injury and illness and abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act as amended from time to time.

  • Health & Safety Committee The Employer agrees to establish a Health & Safety Committee for all employees of the company under the auspices of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). The Committee shall be made up of an equal number (not less than one each) of non-bargaining unit and bargaining unit persons who have completed their probationary period. The Union has the right to appoint the members representing the bargaining unit. The Committee shall keep minutes of its meetings and post them in the shop. One copy will be forwarded to the Union office.

  • Occupational Health and Safety Committee The Employer and the Union agree to cooperate in the promotion of safe working conditions, the prevention of accidents, the prevention of workplace injuries and the promotion of safe workplace practices.
