Mechanical Fitter. Scope: A Mechanical Fitter will carry out a range of mechanical work on various process equipment used in refining processes of oil and petroleum products using a range of processes and tools adhering to the strict installation tolerances provided. Required Skills: A fitter may perform the following tasks: • Examine detailed engineering drawings to analyse the installation specifications and requirements. • Utilising the standard installation procedures and manufactures installation specifications install process equipment such as trays, packing, distributors and associated equipment. • Operate machines to modify process equipment by slotting, grinding or drilling metal stock or components • Cut, thread, bend and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines • Isolation and de-isolation of flanges • Check accuracy and quality of all installed equipment in preparation for third party inspection Personal Attributes: The employee should: • Demonstrate a high standard of competency in Mechanical fitting skills • Consistently display an absolute commitment to company safety policies and directives • Consistently display high attention to detail and quality of work • Be able to work in confined spaces and at heights • Be able to work as part of a team in a positive way. • Be able to work independently • Have the physical strength to handle materials, tools and machines • Have a appropriate level of physical fitness • Have good communications skills • Possess basic rigging skills • Be able to ascend/descend columns and towers 45 – 65m high via ladders and stairs over the course of a 10 – 12hr shift. The Engineer shall provide a preliminary layout for initial review and approval by the State. The Engineer shall prepare circuit wiring diagrams showing the number of luminaries on each circuit, electrical conductors, length of runs, service pole assemblies. Underpass lighting must be used on all structures within each project. The Engineer shall integrate existing illumination within the project limits into the proposed design. The Engineer shall coordinate with the State to determine the location of proposed high- mast, conventional, and underpass lighting.
