Meal Breaks and Rest Breaks. (a) An employee, other than a continuous shiftworker, is entitled to an unpaid meal break of not less than 30 minutes. (b) A continuous shiftworker will be entitled to a paid meal break of 20 minutes per shift. (c) All employees will be allowed a rest break of 10 minutes, between the time of commencing work and the usual meal break. This rest break will be counted as part of time worked. (d) The timing of meal breaks and rest breaks on any particular job may be discussed between the Employer and the majority of employees at a particular site and varied by agreement. Occupational health and safety considerations will always prevail. (e) An employee shall not be compelled to work for more than six hours without a break for a meal. Where possible the normal meal break should be as near as practicable to the middle of the period of duty or shift in lieu thereof.

Meal Breaks and Rest Breaks. A. Where the working situation permits, the Municipality shall schedule a break of at least fifteen (15) minutes duration during the first and second halves of each shift. B. All employees, unless specified elsewhere in this Agreement, will be permitted to have a scheduled unpaid meal period of at least thirty (30) minutes in duration. The Municipality will attempt to schedule the meal period at approximately the middle of each shift. C. Where, because of the nature of the work, employees must remain in duty status and eat while working, the time shall be considered as time worked, and the Municipality may implement a schedule which contains no provisions for an unpaid meal period. D. Where employees work two (2) or more hours outside of and contiguous with the regularly scheduled shift, the employees will be afforded a reasonable period of time to eat a meal on paid time at the factored overtime rate of pay and every four (4) hours thereafter. E. Where employees are required to return to work outside their regularly scheduled shift, they will be afforded a reasonable period of time to eat a meal on paid time at the factored overtime rate of pay every four (4) hours worked.

Meal Breaks and Rest Breaks. Employees shall be allowed an unpaid break of thirty (30) minutes for a meal during their ordinary working hours. A rest break of fifteen minutes each day shall be granted to all employees. Such rest break will be counted as time worked and taken at a time fixed by the employer provided that the rest break shall not be granted within one hour of normal commencement or cessation of work or within one hour either side of a meal break. The same amount of meal and rest breaks will also apply to shift work. No employee shall be required to work longer than five hours without a meal break.

Meal Breaks and Rest Breaks. (1) A trainee, during any period in which his/her ordinary hours are rostered to be worked, shall be allowed a meal break of not less than forty five minutes nor more than one hour. Provided that the employer and any trainee may agree that the meal break shall not be less than a half hour. (2) Subject to subclause (3) a meal break shall be taken after not less than two and a half nor more than five hours' work have been performed on any day. Provided for those trainees who may be required to attend for more than five hours of duty after or prior to taking a meal break in that part of the day which forms the substantial part of their attendance a paid tea break of fifteen (15) minutes shall be granted in lieu of the requirement to take an additional meal break. The fifteen (15) minute break referred to herein shall be in lieu of the break allowed by subclause (5) hereof. (3) From Monday to Saturday inclusive the lunch period may be taken between the hours of 11a.m. and 3p.m. (4) A trainee who is required to attend for ordinary hours during late night trading shall be entitled to an evening meal break of between forty five minutes and one hour between 4.30p.m. and 7.00p.m. Provided that the employer and any trainee may agree that the meal break shall not be less than a half hour. (5) A trainee attending on-the-job for more than eight hours in ordinary time shall be allowed two paid tea breaks of ten minutes to be taken in the morning and afternoon. Otherwise a trainee shall be allowed a ten minute break each day either in the first or second half of the period of attendance Monday to Saturday inclusive. Such break shall be taken to suit the employer's business provided that no trainee shall be required to attend for more than four and one half hours without having had such break. Provided further that such break shall not take place within a period of one hour after the trainee commencing in the morning or within a period of one hour after the completion of the trainee's lunch period or during the time of late night trading. (a) Where a trainee is required to continue into overtime beyond his/her normal finishing time for more than two hours he/she shall be allowed a break for a meal of not less that thirty minutes. Such break shall be allowed to the trainee before the expiration of the period of work beyond his/her normal finishing time referred to herein and not earlier than 5.00pm. Meal Breaks and Rest Breaks. A. Telecommunicators are encouraged to take their paid rest breaks and paid meal breaks when staffing and workload permits. It is understood that telecommunicators may leave their workstation during their meal break or rest break but will remain on the premises and available for recall. Telecommunicators may leave the premises only with authorization and are subject to submission of a leave request if employee is absent longer than the allotted time, at the discretion of the dispatch supervisor except where it is noted in this article. D. Telecommunicators forced to work back to back shifts, without advanced knowledge, due to a last-minute vacancy, increased call volume or an emergent incident can be granted permission to leave the premises. Departure from the premises can be for a period not to exceed 30 minutes with authorization. Employees remain subject to recall and are not required to submit a leave request under these unique conditions.

Meal Breaks and Rest Breaks. 24.1 Subject to sub-clause 24.4 below, employees who work a minimum of five continuous hours are entitled, after this period, to an unpaid meal break of 30 minutes. However, if the meal break is not taken within six hours of the start of the shift, the employee shall be paid at 1.5 times their ordinary hourly rate of pay commencing from six hours after the shift started until the break is taken. 24.2 During the course of a meal break, employees will be entitled to one duty meal in the “IDs” staff restaurant in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Dealers and employees rostered for 12-hour shifts will be entitled to two duty meals per shift. Employees will not be required to commence their meal break until they have worked at least 90 minutes of their rostered shift. 24.3 Subject to sub-clause 24.4, in addition to the unpaid meal break provided in sub-clause 24.1: 24.3.1 employees employed as a Customer Service Attendant Gaming Machines and Service Executives Gaming Machines will be entitled to one paid rest break of fifteen (15) minutes duration to be taken during each four (4) hours of continuous work; 24.3.2 all other employees, except Customer Service Attendants Gaming Machines, Dealers and Service Executives, will be entitled to one paid rest break of fifteen (15) minutes duration for shifts in excess of four hours, with the time at which these breaks are to be taken to be determined by the Company subject to operational requirements. This may include the Company requiring rest breaks being taken in conjunction with meal breaks, except where an employee is required to take their meal break in the first four hours of their rostered shift; 24.3.3 employees who are required to work in excess of the maximum span of hours provided for in paragraph 11.2 (Rostering arrangements) (that is, twelve (12) hours) are entitled to a paid break of twenty (20) minutes provided the employee continues to work after the break is taken. 24.4 Dealers, including for the removal of doubt Dealers performing Higher Duties, are entitled to paid rest breaks at times agreed with the Company on the following basis: 24.4.1 the total break time will be a minimum 20% of the Dealer’s rostered shift, excluding breaks; 24.4.2 each break will be not less than ten (10) minutes nor more than thirty (30) minutes, provided that for Dealers in Training one break may be for up to forty (40) minutes. 24.5 For the avoidance of doubt, employees working twelve (12) hour shifts are entit...
