Meal Breaks and Rest Breaks. Employees are entitled to a paid 20 minute morning rest break. An unpaid 30 minute meal break may be taken usually after the completion of between six and seven hours work. The taking of the rest breaks must be in accordance with the Company’s operational requirements.

However, if the meal break is not taken within six hours of the start of the shift, the employee shall be paid at 1.5 times their ordinary hourly rate of pay commencing from six hours after the shift started until the break is taken.

A rest break of fifteen minutes each day shall be granted to all employees. Such rest break will be counted as time worked and taken at a time fixed by the employer provided that the rest break shall not be granted within one hour of normal commencement or cessation of work or within one hour either side of a meal break. The same amount of meal and rest breaks will also apply to shift work. No employee shall be required to work longer than five hours without a meal break.
