Maintenance of Classroom Control Sample Clauses

Maintenance of Classroom Control. When a student is disruptive to the educational process, and the teacher has made reasonable attempts to manage the student in class, the bargaining unit member may temporarily remove the student from class. When a conference is requested by the bargaining unit member, such student shall not be returned to the class until the administrator has conferred with the bargaining unit member. If the administrator is off campus, the student may be returned to class and a conference will be held as soon as is practical after the administrator's return. Maintenance of Classroom Control. A. Statement of Philosophy The Board and the Union agree that a safe and orderly learning environment is a priority of both parties and that student discipline is the shared responsibility of teachers and administrators. It is important that disruptive student behavior be dealt with in a safe and corrective manner, consistent with the district Code of Student Conduct and Discipline, and the discipline procedures of individual school sites. The Board and the Union further recognize that classroom control shall be maintained with consideration of the student’s IEP/BIP. The District shall ensure that staff knows which students have an IEP/BIP in accordance with applicable State and Federal laws, rules and regulations.
Maintenance of Classroom Control. Teachers will be provided with a written copy of the District Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook prior to the beginning of the school year. When the conduct of a student causes or threatens to cause immediate physical harm to the teacher or to other student(s), the teacher may exclude the student from the classroom according to District procedure for the remainder of that teacher's class period. (Elementary class period considered to be at lunch or end of the day.) When, in the judgment of a teacher, a student is, by his/her conduct, seriously disrupting the instructional program to the detriment of other students, the teacher may exclude the student from the classroom according to District procedure for the remainder of that teacher's class period. (Elementary class period considered to be at lunch or end of the day.) Although the Council recognizes that student discipline is a responsibility of every teacher, the District recognizes that disruptive students cause a hardship for all other students. Therefore, it is agreed that any involved party to a discipline problem may request and be entitled to a conference to be held as soon as all requested parties, including the administrator, can meet. If a problem recurs, the teacher may request implementation of the District suspension/expulsion policy. Such request shall be made in writing.
