Common use of Lunch Breaks Clause in Contracts

Lunch Breaks. All employees covered by the Agreement who work four (4) hours a day or more shall be provided an uninterrupted daily unpaid thirty (30) minute lunch break to be scheduled at approximately the halfway point on their work schedule. The unpaid lunch break may be extended for a period of not longer than one (1) hour as determined by the District. Unless the employee is relieved of all duty during the specified lunch break, such break shall be considered an “on duty” meal period and counted as time worked. An “on duty” meal period shall be permitted only when the nature of the work prevents an employee from being relieved of all duty.
