The 'Long Term Occasional' clause defines the terms and conditions under which an individual is employed on a temporary basis for an extended period, typically in roles that are not permanent but last longer than short-term or daily assignments. This clause often applies to positions such as substitute teachers who fill in for a regular employee on leave for several months. Long Term Occasional. Teacher - shall mean an occasional teacher who is employed for a period of eleven (11) or more consecutive teaching days as a replacement for a full-time or part-time teacher employed by the Board.

Long Term Occasional. Educational Assistants looking to increase their assignments or Supply Educational Assistants looking to secure a long term occasional assignment are eligible to apply to non-permanent vacancies. No applicant from outside the Bargaining Unit shall be considered for posted vacant positions unless there are no suitable qualified and able internal applicants. Nothing in this clause prevents the Board from advertising the positions concurrently within and outside the Board.
