Local Planning Policy Framework & Mount Alexander Rural Living Strategy Sample Clauses

Local Planning Policy Framework & Mount Alexander Rural Living Strategy. The MSS provides an overview of recent and projected growth within the Shire, which is perceivably being driven by a “sea change” trend. Castlemaine has become a popular lifestyle choice, being within 100km of Melbourne and with good road access and rail services, it is set to continue to attract a “commuter” population. In response to this, areas for rural living were designated around Castlemaine, including towards Muckleford. We submit that much of this supply has been exhausted or remains in ownership with no appetite for development. To this end, we submit that now is the time to begin planning for further coordinated rural living opportunities or risk the community turning to ad hoc opportunistic housing in the Farming Zone. It is identified at Clause 21.04-4 that Rural living developments in the Shire have increased levels of native vegetation planting, removed stock from marginal country, and can improve land management pract...
