LOCAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT. Out-Grower Programme We have a large Out-Grower programme planned where up to 30% (+-4,000 ha) of the processing capacity of the Bio-Diesel refinery on the farming estate is dependent on the Out-Grower programme for its crude vegetable oil. As the Out-Grower programme is based on planting a relatively “new” crop it is important to ETC Bio-Energy Ltd to act responsible in this matter and to only start this Out-Grower programme after ltd has proven that the “Jatropha plan” works. Once the community has seen the plan works, we will formally start inviting the community to participate in the Out-Grower Programme. The same rule that applies within the company regarding Jatropha will be valid for the Out-Grower programme: “Jatropha is not to replace food crops but to be planted in addition to the existing Food crops on new land”. The Out-Grower Programme aims to establish Jatropha plantations owned by the community, of a minimum size of 5 hectares each, as a commercially viable and sustainable production unit. As most individual small holder farmers do not have such big areas of land available, Ltd will encourage and assist the local farmers to combine their land and form small business units (SBU’s) where they are the shareholders, to achieve this end result. As part of the Out-Grower programme, Ltd will enter into a formal business relationship with the SBU’s which will consist of training, input finance, price & buy back guarantees, farming assistance, agronomic support, plantation management assistance etc. for an agreed period of time (ideally 5 years). This type of agreement will be renegotiated after the first period has expired for another term, to be repeated for the life of the project. The Out-Growers will benefit in various ways from this programme including the following: Ltd farming estate brings the market to the people; Ltd will provide necessary farming, funding and support services; Minimum price- and buy back guarantee from Ltd minimize financial risk to the Out-Growers; Increase income generation ability of Out-Grower; Long Term contracts with Ltd (initially 5 years and renewable every 3 years) provide stability and sustainability for Out-Growers; and Participation in processing facilities (crushing); It is envisaged that up to 3,000 families in the region, almost one third of the district will have the opportunity to participate and benefit in some way, shape or form in the Out-Grower programme, at a projected annual yield of 3.5 million lit...

  • Promotion and Marketing For the purpose of promotion and marketing, the Borrower hereby authorizes and consents to the reproduction, disclosure and use by the Lenders and the Agent of its name, identifying logo and the Facilities, provided that the amount of Facilities shall not be disclosed. The Borrower acknowledges and agrees that the Lenders shall be entitled to determine, in their sole discretion, whether to use such information; that no compensation will be payable by the Lenders or the Agent in connection therewith; and that the Lenders and the Agent shall have no liability whatsoever to it or any of its employees, officers, directors, affiliates or shareholders in obtaining and using such information as contemplated herein.
