Local Authorities. (COMPANIES) ORDER 1995 The Company shall at all times comply with the Local Authorities (Companies) Order 1995, any successor legislation or statutory instrument and any other laws in force from time to time relation to the operation, management and activities of a local authority owned company.
Local Authorities. Generally, coastal local authorities take the lead in dealing with pollution which comes ashore. They currently have no statutory responsibility to do so. However they do have a duty to assess the risk of an emergency occurring, and to prepare and maintain plans where they consider it necessary or desirable to act to prevent, reduce, control or mitigate the emergency’s effect. In a major incident local authorities would be provided with assistance from the MCA.
Local Authorities. The Localism Act 2011 provides a power of general competence for local authorities. Part 1, chapter 1, section 1 states, subject to prescribed limitations including compliance with pre-existing legislation:

Local Authorities. Section 2 of the Local Government Act (2000) as amended by the Localism Act (2011) enables local authorities to do anything to promote social, economic, or environmental well-being in their area provided that it is not specifically forbidden by other statute (including the Data Protection Act) and that in carrying out such activities they have regard to their sustainable community strategies. In addition Section 111 of the Local Government Act (1972) enables Local Authorities to do anything conducive or incidental to the discharge of any of its functions
Local Authorities. Local authorities shall contribute with the states to sustainable water and environment management in the Transboundary Basin of Mekrou. They shall register their actions in the framework of national and sub-regional instruments of sustainable management of the Transboundary Basin of Mekrou; and they encourage local initiatives of sustainable management in the national portions of the Trans- boundary Basin of Mekrou. They shall exercise in their respective territory their regulatory prerogatives in accordance with policies, strategies and legislation in force. . They shall encourage transboundary cooperation be- tween boundary local authorities located in the Trans- boundary Basin of Mekrou.

Local Authorities. To ensure that CAMP Cyprus will make a major contribution to the increase of awareness of the principles and techniques of coastal area management at the local level, Local Authorities will be represented in the Steering Committee, through the Union of Municipalities and the Union of Communities, and participate in the District-level workshops. In particular, the Municipalities and Communities where Pilot Application Case Studies will be carries out, will act as partners to CAMP Cyprus offering their local expertise, experience and information for the implementation of the Pilot Application Case Studies. In light of this, the Municipalities and Communities involved will make available to the project members of their technical staff to act as experts in the teams carrying out the Pilot Application Case Studies.
