Library Media Specialists. 24.1.1 The District of Columbia Public Schools shall maintain library and media center facilities.
Library Media Specialists. Section One. Library/Media Specialists shall not be required to cover more than one (1) study period per day and shall not be assigned to cover a class for an absent teacher except in situations when no other teacher is available.
Library Media Specialists. The recommended minimum paraprofessional time per library shall be 1.5 hours for each Elementary School library, 3.25 hours for each Middle School library, and 6.5 hours for each High School library. To support and develop the services of the instructional media programs to best serve the school district, community, and students, each Elementary and Middle School librarian shall have at a minimum an extended contract of five (5) days and each High School librarian shall have at a minimum an extended contract of ten (10) days. These additional days shall occur on a schedule mutually determined by the employee and the immediate supervisor. The additional work days will be provided for under the provision of a supplemental contract at the per diem rate of pay.
Library Media Specialists. Section One. Section Two In addition to their applicable salaries, Library Media Specialists shall receive an additional stipend for additional responsibilities with Chromebooks. The stipend shall be $2,000 in year one of this Agreement, $2,050 in year two of this agreement, $2,101.25 in year three of the Agreement, with a reopener in year four with respect to said stipend.
Library Media Specialists. 42 The library/media specialist teaches the course of study, plans for instruction individually and with 43 other teachers, and manages the operation of the library including collection development, book 44 selection, budget responsibilities, and other management activities. Library/media specialists serve 45 as teachers, planners, facilitators, and managers on a weekly basis. 46 Library/media specialists are not held to the instructional minutes’ provision outlined in ARTICLE 47 VIII, Item C.
Library Media Specialists. Every junior (middle schools) and senior high school shall be staffed with a full-time Library Media Specialist. Elementary school libraries should be supervised and available to students during the school day.
