Legal Commitments and Transactions. An employee may be absent without loss of pay to serve on a jury. In the event that compensation beyond expenses is received for this duty, the employee will receive his regular salary less said compensation. An employee who is issued a summons for a legally established court may be absent without loss of pay unless he is a defendant in court proceedings. If such employee defendant is deemed to be not guilty by the court, he shall be paid retroactively for time lost because of the summons provided verification of the verdict is provided within thirty (30) days of the absence. An employee pleading nolo contendere shall not be paid.
