Leave of Absence Without Pay for Union Function a) A regular full-time, regular part-time or part-time employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union, or any body with which the Union is affiliated, or who is elected to public office, shall be granted leave of absence without pay by the Centre, without loss of seniority, for a period up to one (1) year. Such leave shall be applied for to the Employer each subsequent year.

The Union shall repay the Company for the Company's costs incurred in Employee Benefit Plans and the employee(s) shall continue to pay their contributions directly to the Company.   • Education Leave Without Pay I. The Employer recognizes the usefulness of education leave. Upon written application by the employee and with the approval of the Employer, an employee may be granted education leave without pay for varying periods of up to one (1) year, which can be renewed by mutual agreement, to attend a recognized institution for studies in some field of education in which preparation is needed to fill the employee’s present role more adequately or to undertake studies in some field in order to provide a service which the Employer requires or is planning to provide.
