Leave for Union Staff. Subject to operational requirements, employees who have been selected to work in an official capacity for the Local or International Union shall be entitled to a Leave of Absence for the period during which they are performing their duties. A request will be made in writing to the Branch Manager, with a copy to the Operations Manager of the Employer, at least six (6) working days before the leave is to commence, stating the date of commencement and duration of such leave. The granting of such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. Employees taking a leave of absence under this Article shall have the right at any time on giving six (6) working days' notice to return to their previous position at their previous work site or to such other position or site to which they may be entitled by reason of seniority in accordance with Article 12 of this Agreement.

Leave for Union Staff. The Company shall grant an employee a leave of absence of not more than one (1) year to work in an official capacity for the Local or International Union. The employee must request the leave in writing and the Union must approve it. This leave may be extended for additional one-year periods.
Leave for Union Staff. The Board shall grant an employee a leave of absence of not more than two (2) years for Union Business, providing the employee has requested this leave in writing and the Union has approved the request. This leave may be extended for additional two year periods. Such leave shall be without pay. Benefits may be continued at no cost to the Board.

During such leave of absence, a nurse's salary and applicable benefits or percentage in lieu of fringe benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital and the local Union agrees to reimburse the Hospital in the amount of the daily rate of the full-time nurse or in the amount of the full cost of such salary and percentage in lieu of fringe benefits of a part-time nurse except for Provincial Committee meetings which will be reimbursed by the Union. The Hospital will xxxx the local Union within a reasonable period of time. Part-time nurses will receive service and seniority credit for all leaves granted under this Article.

  • Union Stewards (a) The Hospital agrees to recognize Union stewards to be elected or appointed from amongst employees in the bargaining unit who have completed their probationary period for the purpose of dealing with Union business as provided under this Collective Agreement.

  • CULTURAL LEAVE FOR ABORIGINAL EMPLOYEES The Superintendent of Schools or their designate, may grant five (5) paid days per year leave with seven (7) days written notice from the employee to participate in Aboriginal Cultural event(s). Such leave shall not be unreasonably denied.

  • Time Off for Union Activities A. Conventions and Conferences Union-designated employees may be allowed time off without pay to attend union-sponsored conventions or conferences. Approval for the time off must be granted in advance of the absence and in accordance with the Employer’s leave policies. Approval will not be granted if the absence interferes with the Employer’s ability to provide coverage during the requested time off or the operating needs of the agency cannot be met.
