Leave for Union Officers. Any employee who is elected, appointed or selected for a full- time position with the Union or anybody with which the Union is affiliated, or who is elected to public office may be granted leave-of-absence without pay and without loss of seniority by the Board, for a period of one year. This period may be extended by agreement between the Board and the Union, in consultation with the employee.
Leave for Union Officers. Any employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union or any body with which the Union is affiliated, or who is elected to public office shall be granted leave of absence without pay by the Employer for a period of one (1) year. Such leave shall be renewed each year during their term of office. Seniority shall continue to accrue during such leave. On return to work an employee shall be placed in their former position if possible or a similar position. The Employer shall grant leave without pay to the President, Vice-Presidents or Secretary-Treasurer of Local 5523 to carry out necessary Union business providing adequate replacements are available.

Any employee who is elected or selected for a full- or part-time position with the Union, or anybody with which the Union is affiliated, or who is elected to public office, shall be granted leave of absence without loss of seniority by the Employer for a period of one (1) year. Such leave shall be renewed each year during their term of office. They shall retain their former position, upon return, if a vacancy exists, or any other position if there is a vacancy and their seniority and qualifications permit. In any event, they shall have the right to exercise their seniority among seasonal or non-permanent positions.
Leave for Union Officers. (g) The President and/or an appointee of the Union, may be granted time off by the immediate supervisor to attend to urgent union business, such time off to be recorded by the hour and reported to the Chief Executive Officer quarterly.
Leave for Union Officers. (a) Leave of absence, without pay, but without loss of seniority, shall be granted by the Employer to Employees elected or appointed to represent the Union at Union conventions, workshops or seminars, provided that the Union gives five (5) days’ notice and that such leave will not be used to the detriment of the Employer. Notwithstanding the above, the Employer may grant such leave on less than five (5) days’ notice.
Leave for Union Officers. Any permanent employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union, or anybody with whom the Union is affiliated or elected to public office, shall be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority, by the Board, for a period up to two (2) years. The Board may renew such leave on a yearly basis. On return from leave, the employee will be placed in their previous position, or if the previous position does not exist the procedure found in Article 12.02 as applicable will be followed. Such leave will be at no cost to the Board. The employee shall have the option of maintaining the benefits if he/she pays for the premiums.
Leave for Union Officers. (a) Properly qualified officers or representatives shall be granted leave of absence to carry out their duties insofar as the regular operation of the departments in which they are employed will permit and any application by them for such leave shall be given precedence over any other application for leave on the same day.

Leave for Union Officers. Not more than the aggregate of twelve (12) employees in the bargaining unit for teachers and paraprofessionals, who are officers of the Union or who are appointed to its staff shall upon proper application, be given leave of absence without pay during the school year for the purpose of performing legitimate duties for the Union. Employees given leaves of absence without pay shall receive credit toward annual salary increments on the schedules appropriate to their rank. The Committee agrees to recommend to the Pension System that the time spent on leave of absence pursuant to this section be granted as a service credit for retirement purposes and that the employees receiving such leave of absence be permitted to pay regular monthly contributions based upon their earnable salaries as members of the teaching staff for the period of such leave. Provided also that for special purposes leaves without pay under the above conditions shall be granted from time to time for shorter periods than one year but not less than three months as requested by the Union for special study or research or similar relevant purposes to enhance the knowledge and competency of the Union in administering its responsibilities under this contract. All leaves under this short term stipulation would not exceed a total of twelve months per school year.
Leave for Union Officers. (a) An Employee shall receive the pay and benefits provided for in this Agreement when on unpaid leave of absence pursuant to Clause 5.01(a). However, the Union shall reimburse the Employer for all pay and benefits payable by the Employer during the period of absence, or for the replacement costs, whichever is greater.
