Leave for Union Function. Upon notification to the Employer, an employee elected or appointed to represent the Union at Union functions shall be allowed a leave of absence with pay and benefits and without loss of seniority. The Union shall reimburse the Employer for receipt of such pay.

It is understood that the aggregate (combined total days taken by all employees) of Union Leave will be to a maximum of thirty (30) days per calendar year. It is further understood that a maximum of two (2) employees from the same program location and three employees (3) in total may be granted Union Leave for the same time period. The Employer will provide the employee with their regular earnings and applicable benefits shall be maintained by the Employer. The Union will reimburse the Employer on a monthly basis, for the amount of total cost incurred by the Employer in relation to maintaining such earnings and applicable benefits (including employer side EI, CPP, Insurance and Benefit premiums).

When any change in program locations or divisions modifies the number of people allowed Union Leave at the same time the Employer shall discuss with the Union and agree upon a mutually satisfactory alternative. When an Employee is on Union leave, the Employer shall normally fill the vacancy for the duration of the leave.
