Jury Duty or Witness Leave. A teacher who is called to serve on jury duty or is subpoenaed to appear as a witness in a work-related court case shall receive his/her salary while absent, provided the teacher assigns and remits to the School Corporation any compensation received (less mileage reimbursed) for such duty. It is the teacher’s responsibility to certify the amount of compensation received to the Payroll Department.

Jury Duty or Witness Leave. All classified employees subpoenaed to appear as jurors or as witnesses in cases other than those of a personal nature, shall be allowed full salaries less juror fees received in excess of expenses. In such cases where the fees exceed the salary that would have been earned by the employee, the employee shall turn the fees check into the Payroll Office. Verification of jury duty or witness leave shall be provided by the employee to Human Resources to be able to utilize jury duty and/or witness leave.
