Jury Duty/Court Appearance a) To qualify for approval from the College to be absent with pay when summoned to serve on a jury, when subpoenaed as a witness in a criminal proceeding or as a witness in a civil action if not a party thereto, or when appearing as a defendant in a criminal or traffic case if acquitted therefrom, a regular or term employee shall produce the summons or subpoena or submit such other evidence showing the necessity for the absence.

Jury Duty/Court Appearance. A teacher called for jury duty or subpoenaed to give testimony before any judicial body shall be compensated for the difference between the teaching pay and the pay received for the performance of such obligations. The Board will not be liable for this provision in any legal matter where the employee is testifying against the School Board, when the employee has been subpoenaed as a witness, or in situations where the teacher is found to be guilty of gross negligence or criminal act. Teachers released from judicial proceedings, during the school day, must report for duty immediately upon being released by the court in order to receive jury duty/court appearance pay, provided at least two (2) hours remain in the normal school day or a meeting has been scheduled which the teacher would normally attend.
Jury Duty/Court Appearance. When an employee is called for jury service or is subpoenaed to appear in any judicial proceeding in which the employee is not a party, the employee shall keep the remuneration received for jury duty and shall receive his/her regular pay.

Such days shall not be deducted from any other leave days. When a bargaining unit member is subpoenaed to serve as a witness in a court action involving the Board or arising out of his/her employment, he/she shall be given a leave of absence with pay for the time required for such appearance(s); provided, however, nothing herein shall require the Board to grant an absence with pay if the member is a party plaintiff or witness in such suit against the Board nor when the Association is a plaintiff in a suit brought against the Board on behalf of the member or any other member of the bargaining unit. This leave is also inapplicable to any legal proceeding to which the bargaining unit member or a member of his immediate family is a named party.
Jury Duty/Court Appearance. A Board of Education is required to pay a full time employee the difference between such employee's regular compensation and the remuneration received for serving as a juror or subpoenaed court appearance. Compensation for jury duty only, shall be forwarded to the Treasurer of the District upon receipt.

Jury Duty/Court Appearance. In the case of absence from duty in response to a subpoena for jury duty or as a witness in a court case that serves the public interest, a regular driver shall suffer no loss in pay provided that he/she returns any compensation from the court (less mileage expenses) to the District. If trial is canceled or the employee is not seated, the employee will be required to report to the Director of Transportation and assume his/her regular duties as soon as possible.
Jury Duty/Court Appearance. A teacher called for jury duty shall receive his/her regular pay reduced by the amount of per diem pay received from the court. If a teacher is absent to appear before a judicial body or legal authority relating to the teacher’s responsibilities where the teacher has acted within the law and within the guidelines established by the Board and administration, the teacher shall not suffer loss of salary or reduction of leave.

A teacher on such leave shall pay over to the Employer any sums received for jury duty or witness fees, exclusive of traveling costs or meal allowances.
