JOB BIDS. Section 1. Where there is a vacancy in an existing job within the bargaining unit, and the City determines the vacancy should be filled, or a new job is created within the bargaining unit, employees desiring to bid on such job may do so as follows:

JOB BIDS. The Employer agrees to maintain a job bidding procedure as specified in this section. The efficient operation of the plant requires that minimum skill, ability, and qualifications as determined by the Employer be required (the “job requirements”). Bids shall be awarded to the most senior bidding employee who has the necessary job requirements. Jobs other than those specified below will be posted for bid if the Employer determines there is an operational need. The Employer may, in the instance of certain skilled jobs, choose to select, and train employees in the jobs as listed below without requirement to bid those positions. In the event a selected employee has not been placed in the job within thirty (30) calendar days of the selection, the Complex Manager or his/her designate will be notified the selected employee was not moved. The certain jobs to be included are: Maintenance, Lead Hand(s), Trainer(s), Shag Drivers, Quality Assurance, Rendering Operators (with tickets), Hot Scaler, Carcass i.d., Break Scaler, Grade Scaler, and K-pac Operator and RT Operators. The Employer shall post notice that such opening(s) exist. Consideration will be given to existing employees who meet the skill, ability, and qualification requirements for the job. All job postings shall state the job title, job requirements, line and shift, a brief description of the principal duties, the wage rate for the job and the maximum working hours for the employee to quality (“qualifying period”). Job postings shall be from Monday at noon (12:00 p.m.) until Friday at noon (12:00 p.m.), however, all jobs shall be posted for a minimum of five (5) working days. All bids must be received during that period in order to be considered. The job shall be awarded within seven (7) days after the end of the posting on Friday noon (12:00 p.m.). No employee may bid during their probationary period. Bids shall be awarded to the bidding employee with the most seniority in the same Department as the bid. If no employee from that Department bids on the job, it shall be awarded to the bidding employee with the most seniority in the same division as the bid job. If no employee from the division bids on the job, it shall be awarded to the bidding employee with the most seniority in the plant. For the purposes of this article, the below Divisions and Departments shall apply: Production Division Departments  Fabrication  Material Handling  Xxxxxxxxx  Ground Beef  Cooler  Hides
JOB BIDS. It is agreed between the Union and the Company that employees will have the right to job bid, based on their qualifications and seniority, on an annual basis as follows:
JOB BIDS. (a) Whenever job vacancies of a permanent nature (i.e. expected to be of more than thirty (30) days duration) occur in the bargaining unit, other than in the Labourer classification, the Corporation shall post notice thereof for a period of five (5) consecutive working days on the bulletin boards. Qualified employees shall make written application for promotion into such vacancies by signing a job notice within the aforementioned posting. All notices of vacancies shall designate the job and rate of pay for such job. The Corporation shall post the name of the successful applicant within ten (10) days after the period of five (5) days has expired.

JOB BIDS. It is agreed between the Company and the Union that, once each year, all employees must bid and may transfer to other departments within the terminal, providing they have the necessary qualifications and seniority. For the purpose of this Schedule, the departments are defined as Grocery, Produce and Dock. The Annual Job Bid shall be held annually in the month of March. The bid will show the number of departmental openings. Each employee will be brought into the office in order of seniority to sign the bid, at which time he must sign the bid and indicate his preference. The transfer of will be affected commencing on the first Sunday of the month of April. The results of the annual job bid will be posted for at least seven (7) days prior to the annual change and the local Union's area office concerned will be given copies when completed. The appropriate Shop Xxxxxxx will have the authority to sign on behalf of any employee who is absent at the time of the annual job bid due to sickness, injury, leave of absence or vacation. Employees will only be transferred if the required qualifications are approved by the Company. Personnel transferring under the above conditions shall assume positions according to and maintaining their terminal seniority. ARTICLE OPENINGS When openings on types of equipment occur at any time, qualified employees in the department in which the openings occur shall be given preference in accordance with their seniority. This shall not be interpreted to give an employee the right to move from one truck to another, nor to give an employee a preference to bid on a new truck, but is intended to give an employee an opportunity to progress from straight truck to tractor-trailer equipment. When job openings occur in any department coming within the scope of this bargaining unit, such openings will be posted on the bulletin board for seventy-two (72) hours, Saturday, Sunday and Paid Holidays excluded, and the employees in the department affected shall have the first opportunity of bidding on such job openings and retaining their department seniority. An employee shall maintain his seniority for all purposes when he transfers from one (1) department to another, as a result of being the successful applicant for a permanent job posting.

JOB BIDS. It is understood that the present practice of the Company in not using drivers beyond the Windsor Terminal will be continued. In the event that the Company finds it necessary to use US. Drivers beyond the Windsor Terminal, it will first meet with the Union to discuss the matter. In no event will the use of Drivers in Canada result in the lay-off or shortage of work for Canadian Drivers. ARTICLE A17 Definition "Job Bids" shall be called once per year for jobs which occur on a regular basis. An employee securing a job bid after bidding on same shall not leave that job for the one (1) year duration except for reasons that the job is discontinued, of health, or upon mutual agreement between the Company and the Union. It is agreed between the Company and the Union that once a year all Drivers and Maintenance will bid in accordance with their respective seniority lists. All job bids shall be bid once a year. Annual "Job Bids" will be effective September 1st each year. Bids will be posted for two (2) weeks before calling for bidding preference. Bid will be made in order of seniority at each terminal. The bid will show the number of openings and whether it is to be assigned to a Driver or Maintenance designated by the Company. The bid shall be received in accordance with the seniority by terminal regardless of whether an employee is a Driver or Maintenance. Each employee will be contacted in order of his seniority within his seniority group and terminal to sign the bid of his choice. The results shall be posted within seven

JOB BIDS. Section 1 – Filling a Job Vacancy. For the purpose of this section, the following is the designated classification: CAS Operator ORPF. When it becomes necessary to fill a job vacancy or new job on other than a temporary basis, the senior qualified employee in the unit will be given preference.
