Issues and activism. In this section the issues that concern young feminists and the forms of activism they are involved in are examined. The picture emerging from the data is that the most important issues for young feminists are cultural rather than material. They are concerned with the representation of women, i.e. either their lack of representation or the distorted representation of women in the cultural sphere. They are also concerned with violence against women. The forms of activism they engage in range from the setting up of feminist societies in school and university to organising feminist cultural events and taking part in street protests.
