Internet Filtering. The school will use technology protection measures in compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act(CIPA) to protect minors and all users against access through such computers to visual depictions that are violent, obscene, constitute child pornography, or are otherwise harmful to minors.

Internet Filtering. Internet filtering will be utilized using two systems. The iBoss program will be used “Outside of the School Network” and will be administered and activated at all times when the laptop is not connected to the in-school network. The Fortinet program will be activated “During School Hours” and when the laptop is connected to the in- school network. The Fortinet filter is restrictive, preventing access to sites that BCHS feels could overtax bandwidth use or be distracting or disruptive to the school environment. The iBoss filter will allow for additional sites to be viewed such as popular social networking sites, while still blocking inappropriate material. Non- Chromebooks/in-school computer systems will be filtered using Fortinet program.

To ensure that the use of the network is consistent with the educational objectives and philosophy of the School, Parish, and Diocese, authorized representatives may monitor the use of the network from time to time, which may include the printing and reading of all information stored, and all emails entering, leaving or stored and all files created and saved in the system. The system administrator (Principal or designee, Pastor) may remove any material stored by the users which violates the terms of this Agreement.

All Chromebooks, regardless of physical location (in or out of school), will have all Internet activity protected and monitored by the district. If an educationally valuable site is blocked, students should contact their teachers to request that the site be unblocked. School-issued Chromebooks have been configured to optimize the educational experience for students and staff as well as protect students from harmful content per federally mandated guidelines.

Internet Filtering. With respect to any school owned device with Internet access via the school’s network or use of computing technology resources on an outside network, the school can monitor the online activities of both minors and adults and will employ technology protection measures during any use of such computers by minors and adults. The technology protection measures utilized are considered reasonable attempts to block or filter Internet access while at school and/or off school property (using school computers) to any visual depictions or web sites that are not considered appropriate for the school’s educational mission and goals. The technology protection measures may also be applied to computing technology devices not owned by the school, but given permission for use on the school networks. CONSISTENCY WITH OTHER SCHOOL POLICIES Use of Xxxx Xxxx computing technology resources and use of the Internet shall be consistent with school policies and the mission of Xxxx Xxxx. LIMITED EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY 1 By authorizing use of Xxxx Xxxx computing technology resources, Xxxx Xxxx does not relinquish control over materials on the system or contained in files on the system. Users should expect only limited privacy in the contents of personal files on Xxxx Xxxx system.
