Intermittent leave means leave taken in separate periods of time due to a single illness or injury, rather than for one continuous period of time, and may include leave of periods from an hour or more to several weeks. Reduced-work schedule means a leave schedule that reduces the usual number of hours per work week, or hours per work day of the teacher. Examples of intermittent leave and/or reduced-work schedule leave would include leave taken on an occasional basis for medical appointments related to a serious health condition of the teacher’s or that of an immediate family member’s, or leave taken several days at a time spread over a period of six (6) months, such as for chemotherapy.
