INTERIM SERVICES. All persons who are not admitted into RTS shall be referred to Interim 6 Services by CONTRACTOR. Interim Services shall be provided until an individual is admitted to 7 residential treatment program. The purposes of the services are to reduce the adverse health effects of 8 such abuse, promote the health of the individual, and reduce the risk of transmission of disease. At a 9 minimum, Interim Services include counseling and education about HIV and TB, about the risks of 10 needle-sharing, the risks of transmission to sexual partners and infants, and about steps that can be taken 11 to ensure that HIV and TB transmission does not occur, as well as referral for HIV or TB treatment 12 services if necessary. CONTRACTOR shall provide Clients, especially opiate users, with drug overdose 13 education/information. For pregnant women, Interim Services include counseling on the effects of 14 alcohol and drug use on the fetus, as well as referrals for prenatal care. Provision of Interim Services 15 shall be documented on the XXXXX and reported monthly to the State.
