Instructional Responsibilities. 6.3.1 Learning objectives, course requirements, and the testing methods and criteria to be used in grading shall be communicated to students by means of a syllabus at the beginning of each semester (or session). In accordance with Higher Learning Commission Revised Criteria for Accreditation (3.A.3), syllabuses shall be designed to ensure that “program quality and learning goals are consistent across all modes of delivery and all locations”. Syllabuses for online courses therefore shall include provisions ensuring that instructional contact and methods are equivalent in scope to comparable face-to-face courses. Copies of syllabuses shall be on file in the department office.
